Support Blogging!
I just left a district that was skeptical and “protective” of any type of blogging. Unfortunately, I don’t think that this sort of “district” perspective is unusual. It stems from a fear and also a lack of understanding. We can be so blinded by the negative image the media paints through stories about MySpace. The wiki Support Blogging! does an excellent job of clearly defining the differences between educational blogging and social networking. There are other useful sections on how to get started and a page of links to student, teacher (and even administrator!) blogs.
The site was created by Steve Hargadon with contributions (since it is a wiki) by Will Richardson and others. So there is credibility here. A very useful resource, I think.
