NECC: The Drive for 2005

The new 3 R’s are Real, Rich, and Relevant learning. Tom March, co-developer of the WebQuest model hopes to encourage all teachers to use Internet resources in ways that provide all learners with Real, Rich and Relevant content. He has set out his vision on The Drive for 2005 site.

The website contains links to the resources March has developed and that have previously been available on the web: Hotlists, Subject Samplers and Webquests. In addition, there are a few new sites:

*anew3Rs - a collection of real, rich and relevant web links
*ClassActPortal - creating a place, with online tools, for your class to access real, rich and relevant content - links, weblogs, and wikis. His demonstration of this was a very cool part of his presentation.

The initiative also has a weblog and forum that teachers can post to. It will be interesting to see how this unfolds as the year progresses. Since it is still very new, there isn’t much on some of these sites. Tom’s older resources such as Best Web Quests, Filamentality, and Web and Flow are worth using.
