NECC: Assessment for Project-Based Learning

The presenters in this workshop set out to answer the question: How do you effectively assess project-based learning? Both presenters were from iEARN (International Education and Resource Network). This organization is dedicated to enabling teachers and young people to use the Internet and other new technologies to collaborate on projects that both enhance learning and make a difference in the world. Since their focus is project-based learning, assessment is a key element of instruction they are concerned about.

The iEARN site has a section focusing on assessment. Main sections of the site include:

*Why is assessment important?
*What is authentic assessment?
*What is a rubric?
*Standards, Goals, and Objectives for projects
*How to plan assessments
*Examples
*Additional resources including what the research says

All of these are available at the iEARN Professional Development site.
