I’m back….
OK...we’ll have to see how long this return lasts… This post is going to be some random thoughts and ideas…
It was two years ago that I started to blog. And for about the first three months, I blogged everyday. Probably nothing terribly interesting, but I was getting into it. Then last year, I posted just a little of 20 times. Probably because in the first half of the year, I was bored and not busy enough. And in the second half of the year, I was too busy! So let me catch you up on things…
Since July, I’ve been at a new job. I was an employee (in various capacities) in the East Penn School District for 19 years. And then I moved to a neighboring school district, Salisbury, as an administrator - the Director of Data and Technology. The job has been challenging, but also a great deal of fun and a terrific learning experience. It was just what I needed, especially after years of relative unhappiness in my previous district. I’ve been in Salisbury for only 6 months, but it seems like longer because I think I’ve done so much. So the new job has been keeping me relatively busy...in fact, very busy.
I did start the doctoral program at Teacher College, Columbia University, this past fall. I finished my Masters degree there in 2005. I only took four credits. It was an decent experience. But look for some interesting information related to this in the near future! Can’t say here at the moment.
I’m moving! ...again. But getting out of the “apartment” living. I’m excited about that, but it means, yet again, packing this stuff up and getting it moved. I suppose in the end it will be worth it. I will post about the move...and maybe even post pictures....we’ll see.
I’m going to Italy in April. A few years ago, I went with my former group Emmaus Chamber Harmony. Well, Rita Cortez, the choral director at Emmaus High School, asked me if I wanted to join them on their spring excursion. Sounded like a lot of fun. I loved Italy when we went, and wanted to go back, so a good opportunity I think.
I will be teaching a class at my undergrad alma mater, Moravian, in the Masters in Education program. The topic is electronic portfolios. Not sure I’m an expert, but I have put a few together myself, including a nifty one for my current job. I think teaching at the college level will be fun. I am really looking forward to it.
Last week I saw Dreamgirls. I am not much of a movie person, but I sure love musicals! This was very entertaining and a lot of fun. Definitely in need of repeat viewing on this one. I really haven’t been into the city much to see things (mostly just for school). I use to blog about everything I saw. Maybe I’ll need to start doing that again. I did see Mary Poppins and Ann Hampton Callaway at Jazz at Lincoln Center. I also vaguely remember seeing the disappointing concert at Town Hall presented by the Side Show twins, Emily Skinner and Alice Ripley. I don’t recall seeing any other shows though. Maybe I’ll have to take that hobby up again.
Enough for a “welcome back” post. Will there be one tomorrow??
